Why are Batting Average and ERA not included in the scoring system?
We believe that Batting Average and ERA are very important baseball statistics. Due the nature of the points-based Scoring System, however, it is extremely complicated to include averages by themselves. Instead, by attributing point totals to at-bats, outs made, and innings pitched we are indirectly including Batting Average and ERA as statistics. As is, we will still keep track of your team's cumulative Batting Average and ERA, and we will use those statistics as tie-breakers in the unlikely event of a tie.
